3 The sons of Judah (praised): Er (awake), Onan (strong), and Shelah (a petition). These three were born to him by Bath-shua (wealth) the Canaanite (merchant). Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD {YHWH}. So the LORD put him to death. 4 Tamar (palm-tree), Judah’s daughter-in-law, bore to him Perez (breaking out) and Zerah (rising).
