1 And it came to pass after this that David struck the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Gath and its daughters from the hand of the Philistines. 2 And he defeated Moab, and the Moabites became servants of David, bringing tribute. 3 And David defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah as far as Hamath in his going to establish his hand by the river Euphrates. 4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand soldiers on foot, and David hamstrung all the chariots and left of them a hundred chariots. 5 And the Aramaeans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, and David struck down twenty-two thousand men of Aram. 6 And David placed garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and Aram became servants of David, bearing tribute, and YHWH preserved David in all to which he went. 7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and he brought them to Jerusalem. 8 And from Tibhath and from Chun, cities of Hadadezer, David brought a large amount of bronze with which Solomon made the bronze Sea, and the pillars, and the articles of bronze. 1 Chronicles 18:1-8, Berean Literal Bible.
