1 NOW Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build a house for him. 2 And David perceived that the LORD had chosen him to be king over Israel, for his kingdom was exalted because of his people Israel. 3 And David took more wives in Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron, and there were born to him more sons and daughters. 4 Now these are the names of the children who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shocob, Nathan, and Solomon. 5 Ibhar, Elisha, Eliphalet. 6 Nogah, Nepheg, and Naphia, 7 And Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphalet. 8 And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it, and went out against them. 9 And the Philistines came and encamped in the valley of giants. 10 And David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? And wilt thou deliver them into my hands? And the LORD said to him, Go up; for I will deliver them into your hands. 11 So they came up to the valley of Toretha, and David smote them there. Then David said. The LORD has broken in upon my enemies before me like the breaking forth of waters; therefore they called the name of that place the valley of Toretha. 1 Chronicles 14:1-11, Lamsa Bible.
