2 to speak evil of no one, not to be contentious, to be gentle, showing all humility toward all men. to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people. to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone.
3 For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.

8 This saying is faithful, and concerning these things I desire that you insist confidently, so that those who have believed God may be careful to maintain good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people. This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
9 but shun foolish questionings, genealogies, strife, and disputes about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless.
10 Avoid a factious man after a first and second warning, As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him, Warn a divisive person once, and then warn them a second time. After that, have nothing to do with them.
11 knowing that such a one is perverted and sinful, being self-condemned. knowing that such a person is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned. You may be sure that such people are warped and sinful; they are self-condemned.
12 When I send Artemas to you, or Tychicus, be diligent to come to me to Nicopolis, for I have determined to winter there. When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, do your best to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there. 13 Send Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey speedily, that nothing may be lacking for them. Do your best to speed Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way; see that they lack nothing. 14 Let our people also learn to maintain good works to meet necessary needs, that they may not be unfruitful. And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful. Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order to provide for urgent needs and not live unproductive lives.
