I SAW when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four beasts saying in a voice as of thunder, Come and see. Now I watched when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say with a voice like thunder, “Come!” I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, “Come!”
And I saw, and beheld a white horse, and he who sat on him had a bow, and a crown was given to him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. And I looked, and behold, a white horse! And its rider had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer. I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.
And when he opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!”
And there went out another horse, and it was red, and to him who sat on it was given power to take away peace from the earth, that people should kill one another: and there was given to him a great sword. And out came another horse, bright red. Its rider was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that people should slay one another, and he was given a great sword. Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword.
And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And behold, I saw a black horse; and he who sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” And I looked, and behold, a black horse! And its rider had a pair of scales in his hand. When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand.
And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see that you do not damage the oil and the wine. And I heard what seemed to be a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius, and do not harm the oil and wine!” Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “Two pounds of wheat for a day’s wages, and six pounds of barley for a day’s wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!”
And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the fourth beast saying, Come and see. When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!”
And I looked, and beheld a pale horse; and the name of him who sat on him was Death, and Hell followed after him. And power was given him over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine, and with death, and with the wild beasts of the earth. And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth. I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.
And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the sake of the word of God and for the testimony of the Lamb which they had: When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne. When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained.
And they cried with a loud voice saying, How long, O LORD, holy and true, do you not judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth? They cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?”
And a white robe was given to every one of them; and it was said to them, that they should rest yet for a little while, until the time should be fulfilled when their fellowservants and their brethren should be killed also as they had been. Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been. Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters, were killed just as they had been.
And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red,
And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, even as a fig tree casts her green figs when she is shaken by a mighty wind. and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind.
And the heavens separated, as a scroll when it is rolled separately; and every mountain and island shifted from its resting place. The sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.
And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the captains of thousands, and the rich, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every freeman, hid themselves in caves, and in clefts of the mountain; Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains.
And said to the mountains and rocks: Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!
For the great day of his wrath is come, and who shall be able to stand? for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?” For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?”
