| 1 | {A Psalm of David; when he was in the wilderness of Judah.} O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee. My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh languisheth for thee, in a dry and weary land without water: | O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. | A psalm of David. When he was in the Desert of Judah. You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. | |
| 2 | To see thy power and thy glory, as I have beheld thee in the sanctuary; | So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. | I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. | |
| 3 | For thy loving-kindness is better than life: my lips shall praise thee. | Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. | Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. | |
| 4 | So will I bless thee while I live; I will lift up my hands in thy name. | So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. | I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. | |

| 6 | When I remember thee upon my bed, I meditate on thee in the night-watches: | when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night; | On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. | |
| 7 | For thou hast been my help, and in the shadow of thy wings will I sing for joy. | for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy. | Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. | |
| 8 | My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me. | My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me. | I cling to you; your right hand upholds me. | |
| 9 | But those that seek my soul, to destroy [it], shall go into the lower parts of the earth; | But those who seek to destroy my life shall go down into the depths of the earth; | Those who want to kill me will be destroyed; they will go down to the depths of the earth. | |
| 10 | They shall be given over to the power of the sword; they shall be the portion of foxes. | they shall be given over to the power of the sword; they shall be a portion for jackals. | They will be given over to the sword and become food for jackals. | |
| 11 | But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: for the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped. | But the king shall rejoice in God; all who swear by him shall exult, for the mouths of liars will be stopped. | But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by God will glory in him, while the mouths of liars will be silenced. | |
