For the Chief Musician. On stringed instruments. A contemplation by David, when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, “Isn’t David hiding himself among us?” Save me, God, by your name. Vindicate me in your might. O God, save me by your name, and vindicate me by your might. For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A maskil of David. When the Ziphites had gone to Saul and said, “Is not David hiding among us?” Save me, O God, by your name; vindicate me by your might.
Hear my prayer, God. Listen to the words of my mouth. O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth. Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.
For strangers have risen up against me. Violent men have sought after my soul. They haven’t set God before them. Selah. For strangers have risen against me; ruthless men seek my life; they do not set God before themselves. Selah Arrogant foes are attacking me; ruthless people are trying to kill me— people without regard for God.
Behold, God is my helper. The Lord is the one who sustains my soul. Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.
He will repay the evil to my enemies. Destroy them in your truth. He will return the evil to my enemies; in your faithfulness put an end to them. Let evil recoil on those who slander me; in your faithfulness destroy them.
With a free will offering, I will sacrifice to you. I will give thanks to your name, Yahweh, for it is good. With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you; I will give thanks to your name, O LORD, for it is good. I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you; I will praise your name, LORD, for it is good.
For he has delivered me out of all trouble. My eye has seen triumph over my enemies. For he has delivered me from every trouble, and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies. You have delivered me from all my troubles, and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.
