For the music director, to be accompanied by stringed instruments; a well-written song by David. It was written when the Ziphites came and informed Saul: |David is hiding with us.| O God, deliver me by your name! Vindicate me by your power! O God, save me by your name, and vindicate me by your might. For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A maskil of David. When the Ziphites had gone to Saul and said, “Is not David hiding among us?” Save me, O God, by your name; vindicate me by your might.
O God, listen to my prayer! Pay attention to what I say! O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth. Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.
For foreigners attack me; ruthless men, who do not respect God, seek my life. (Selah) For strangers have risen against me; ruthless men seek my life; they do not set God before themselves. Selah Arrogant foes are attacking me; ruthless people are trying to kill me— people without regard for God.
Look, God is my deliverer! The Lord is among those who support me. Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.
May those who wait to ambush me be repaid for their evil! As a demonstration of your faithfulness, destroy them! He will return the evil to my enemies; in your faithfulness put an end to them. Let evil recoil on those who slander me; in your faithfulness destroy them.
With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you! I will give thanks to your name, O LORD, for it is good! With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you; I will give thanks to your name, O LORD, for it is good. I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you; I will praise your name, LORD, for it is good.
Surely he rescues me from all trouble, and I triumph over my enemies. For he has delivered me from every trouble, and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies. You have delivered me from all my troubles, and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.
