To the chiefe musition vpon Neginoth, a wyse instruction of Dauid, when the Ziphims came and sayd vnto Saul, hath not Dauid hyd him selfe amongst vs? Saue me O Lorde for thy name sake: iudge me accordyng to thy mightie power. | O God, save me by your name, and vindicate me by your might. | For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A maskil of David. When the Ziphites had gone to Saul and said, “Is not David hiding among us?” Save me, O God, by your name; vindicate me by your might. |
Heare my prayer O Lord: and hearken vnto the wordes of my mouth. | O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth. | Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth. |
For straungers are rysen vp against me: and tirauntes whiche haue not the Lorde before their eyes, seeke after my soule. Selah. | For strangers have risen against me; ruthless men seek my life; they do not set God before themselves. Selah | Arrogant foes are attacking me; ruthless people are trying to kill me— people without regard for God. |
Behold, God is an ayde vnto me: the Lorde is with them that vpholde my soule. | Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life. | Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me. |
He wyll rewarde euyll vnto mine enemies: destroy thou them according to thy trueth. | He will return the evil to my enemies; in your faithfulness put an end to them. | Let evil recoil on those who slander me; in your faithfulness destroy them. |
I wyll sacrifice vnto thee with a true wyllyng heart: I wyll confesse thy name O God, because it is good. | With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you; I will give thanks to your name, O LORD, for it is good. | I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you; I will praise your name, LORD, for it is good. |
For he hath deliuered me out of all my trouble: and mine eye hath seene auengaunce vpon mine enemies. | For he has delivered me from every trouble, and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies. | You have delivered me from all my troubles, and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes. |
