1 To the overseer of the pipes; chanting of David. Give ear to my sayings, O Jehovah; attend to my cry. Give ear to my words, O LORD; consider my groaning. For the director of music. For pipes. A psalm of David. Listen to my words, LORD, consider my lament.
2 Attend to the voice of my supplication, my King and my God: for to thee will I pray. Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray. Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.
3 O Jehovah, the morning thou wilt hear my voice; the morning I will set in order to thee, and I will look about. O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch. In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.
4 For thou not a God delighting in injustice: and evil shall not dwell with thee. For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you. For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome.
5 The foolish shall not stand before thine eyes: thou hatedst all working vanity. The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers. The arrogant cannot stand in your presence. You hate all who do wrong;
6 Thou shalt destroy those speaking falsehood: a man of bloods and deceit Jehovah will abhor. You destroy those who speak lies; the LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man. you destroy those who tell lies. The bloodthirsty and deceitful you, LORD, detest.
7 And I in the multitude of thy mercy will come into thy house; I will worship to thy holy temple in thy fear. But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you. But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.
8 O Jehovah, guide me into thy justice, for sake of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face. Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me. Lead me, LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies— make your way straight before me.
9 Not steadfast in his mouth; the midst of them mischiefs; their throat a grave opened; they will be smooth with their tongue, For there is no truth in their mouth; their inmost self is destruction; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue. Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with malice. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongues they tell lies.
10 Punish them, O God: they shall fall by their counsels; in the multitude of their transgressions thrust them down, for they rebelled against thee. Make them bear their guilt, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; because of the abundance of their transgressions cast them out, for they have rebelled against you. Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.
11 And all they putting trust in thee shall rejoice forever: they shall shout for joy, and thou wilt cover over them: and they loving thy name shall exult in thee. But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. 12 For thou wilt bless the just, O Jehovah: thou wilt surround him with favor as a shield. For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield. Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
