1 GIVE ear to my words, O LORD, and consider my meditation. Give ear to my words, O LORD; consider my groaning. For the director of music. For pipes. A psalm of David. Listen to my words, LORD, consider my lament.
2 Hearken to the voice of my cry, my King and my God; for to thee do I pray. Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray. Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.
3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD: and in the morning will I prepare myself and see thee. O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch. In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.
4 For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness; neither shall evil dwell with thee. For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you. For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome.
5 The proud shall not stand in thy sight; thou hatest all workers of iniquity. The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers. The arrogant cannot stand in your presence. You hate all who do wrong;
6 Thou shalt destroy them that speak falsehood; the LORD will reject the bloody and deceitful man. You destroy those who speak lies; the LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man. you destroy those who tell lies. The bloodthirsty and deceitful you, LORD, detest.
7 But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy; and I will enter into thy house and worship in thy holy temple. But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you. But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.
8 Lead me, O LORD, in thy reverence and righteousness; and because of mine enemies, make thy way straight before my face. Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me. Lead me, LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies— make your way straight before me.
9 For there is no justice in their mouth; there is wickedness in them; their throat is an open sepulchre; they deceive with their tongues. For there is no truth in their mouth; their inmost self is destruction; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue. Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with malice. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongues they tell lies.
10 Condemn thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their wickedness, for they have provoked thee. Make them bear their guilt, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; because of the abundance of their transgressions cast them out, for they have rebelled against you. Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.
11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice; they shall glorify thee forever, and thou shalt dwell among them; and all they that love thy name shall be strengthened by thee. But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. 12 For thou wilt bless the righteous; O LORD, thou hast adorned me like a perfect shield. For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield. Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
