1 For the Leader; upon the Nehiloth. A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation. Give ear to my words, O LORD; consider my groaning. For the director of music. For pipes. A psalm of David. Listen to my words, LORD, consider my lament.
2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God; For unto Thee do I pray. Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray. Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.
3 O LORD, in the morning shalt Thou hear my voice; In the morning will I order my prayer unto Thee, and will look forward. O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch. In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.
4 For Thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness; Evil shall not sojourn with Thee. For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you. For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome.
5 The boasters shall not stand in Thy sight; Thou hatest all workers of iniquity. The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers. The arrogant cannot stand in your presence. You hate all who do wrong;
6 Thou destroyest them that speak falsehood; The LORD abhorreth the man of blood and of deceit. You destroy those who speak lies; the LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man. you destroy those who tell lies. The bloodthirsty and deceitful you, LORD, detest.
7 But as for me, in the abundance of Thy lovingkindness will I come into Thy house; I will bow down toward Thy holy temple in the fear of Thee. But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you. But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.
8 O LORD, lead me in Thy righteousness because of them that lie in wait for me; Make Thy way straight before my face. Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me. Lead me, LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies— make your way straight before me.
9 For there is no sincerity in their mouth; Their inward part is a yawning gulf, Their throat is an open sepulchre; They make smooth their tongue. For there is no truth in their mouth; their inmost self is destruction; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue. Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with malice. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongues they tell lies.
10 Hold them guilty, O God, Let them fall by their own counsels; Cast them down in the multitude of their transgressions; For they have rebelled against Thee. Make them bear their guilt, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; because of the abundance of their transgressions cast them out, for they have rebelled against you. Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.
11 So shall all those that take refuge in Thee rejoice, They shall ever shout for joy, And Thou shalt shelter them; Let them also that love Thy name exult in Thee. But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
12 For Thou dost bless the righteous; O LORD, Thou dost encompass him with favour as with a shield. For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield. Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
