18 Come, let us be inebriated with the breasts, and let us enjoy the desired embraces, till the day appear. Come, let us take our fill of love till morning; let us delight ourselves with love. Come, let’s drink deeply of love till morning; let’s enjoy ourselves with love!
19 For my husband is not at home, he is gone a very long journey. For my husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey; My husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey.
20 He took with him a bag of money: he mill return home the day of the full moon. he took a bag of money with him; at full moon he will come home.” He took his purse filled with money and will not be home till full moon.”
21 She entangled him with many words, and drew him away with the flattery of her lips. With much seductive speech she persuades him; with her smooth talk she compels him. With persuasive words she led him astray; she seduced him with her smooth talk.
22 Immediately he followeth her as an ox led to be a victim, and as a lamb playing the wanton, and not knowing that he is drawn like a fool to bonds, All at once he follows her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a stag is caught fast All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose
23 Till the arrow pierce his liver: as if a bird should make haste to the snare, and knoweth not that his life is in danger. till an arrow pierces its liver; as a bird rushes into a snare; he does not know that it will cost him his life. till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life.
