21 She turns him aside with the abundance of her speech; with the smoothness of her lips she compels him. With much seductive speech she persuades him; with her smooth talk she compels him. With persuasive words she led him astray; she seduced him with her smooth talk.
22 Going after her suddenly, he goes in like an ox to the slaughter, like a deer bounding into a trap, All at once he follows her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a stag is caught fast All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose
23 until an arrow splits his liver, like the hurrying of a bird to the snare, and he did not know that it was for his soul! till an arrow pierces its liver; as a bird rushes into a snare; he does not know that it will cost him his life. till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life.
