Forbear not to do good to the poor, whensoever thy hand may have power to help him . Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it. Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.
Say not, Come back another time, to-morrow I will give; while thou art able to do him good: for thou knowest not what the next day will bring forth. Do not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come again, tomorrow I will give it”—when you have it with you. Do not say to your neighbor, “Come back tomorrow and I’ll give it to you|— when you already have it with you.
Devise not evil against thy friend, living near thee and trusting in thee. Do not plan evil against your neighbor, who dwells trustingly beside you. Do not plot harm against your neighbor, who lives trustfully near you.
Be not ready to quarrel with a man without a cause, lest he do thee some harm. Do not contend with a man for no reason, when he has done you no harm. Do not accuse anyone for no reason— when they have done you no harm.
Procure not the reproaches of bad men, neither do thou covet their ways. Do not envy a man of violence and do not choose any of his ways, Do not envy the violent or choose any of their ways.
For every transgressor is unclean before the Lord; neither does he sit among the righteous. for the devious person is an abomination to the LORD, but the upright are in his confidence. For the LORD detests the perverse but takes the upright into his confidence.
The curse of God is in the houses of the ungodly; but the habitations of the just are blessed. The LORD’s curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the dwelling of the righteous. The LORD’s curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous.
The Lord resists the proud; but he gives grace to the humble. Toward the scorners he is scornful, but to the humble he gives favor. He mocks proud mockers but shows favor to the humble and oppressed.
The wise shall inherit glory; but the ungodly have exalted their own dishonour. The wise will inherit honor, but fools get disgrace. The wise inherit honor, but fools get only shame.
