My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and wilt hide my commands with thee; My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,
To attend to wisdom thou wilt incline thine ear, thy heart to understanding; making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—
For if thou will call to understanding, wilt give thy voice to understanding. yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,
If thou wilt seek her as silver, and dig for her as hidden treasure; if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,
Then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, and thou shalt find the knowledge of God. then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.
For Jehovah will give wisdom: from his mouth knowledge and understanding. For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He treasured up deliverance for the upright: a shield to those going in uprightness: he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
To guard the paths of judgment, and he will watch the way of his godly ones. guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints. for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.
Then thou shalt understand justice and judgment and uprightness; every good track. Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path; Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path.
For wisdom shall come into thy heart, and knowledge shall be pleasant to thy soul. for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
Meditation shall watch over thee, understanding shall guard thee: discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard you, Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.
To deliver thee from the evil way, from the man speaking deceit; delivering you from the way of evil, from men of perverted speech, Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse,
Those forsaking the paths of straightness to go in the ways of darkness; who forsake the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness, who have left the straight paths to walk in dark ways,
Those rejoicing to do evil will exult in the deceit of evil; who rejoice in doing evil and delight in the perverseness of evil, who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
Whose paths are perverted, and in their tracks are bent aside: men whose paths are crooked, and who are devious in their ways. whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.
To deliver thee from the strange woman, from the stranger making smooth her sayings; So you will be delivered from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words, Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman with her seductive words,
Forsaking the friend of her youth, and forgetting the covenant of her God. who forsakes the companion of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God; who has left the partner of her youth and ignored the covenant she made before God.
For her house sunk down to death, and her tracks to the shades. for her house sinks down to death, and her paths to the departed; Surely her house leads down to death and her paths to the spirits of the dead.
All going in it shall not turn back, and they shall not overtake the paths of life. none who go to her come back, nor do they regain the paths of life. None who go to her return or attain the paths of life.
So that thou shalt go in the way of the good, and thou shalt watch the paths of the just. So you will walk in the way of the good and keep to the paths of the righteous. Thus you will walk in the ways of the good and keep to the paths of the righteous.
For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the blameless shall remain in it. For the upright will inhabit the land, and those with integrity will remain in it, For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it;
And the unjust shall be cut off from the land, and they transgressing shall be wiped off from it. but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the treacherous will be rooted out of it. but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be torn from it.
