My sonne, if thou wilt receiue my wordes, and hide my commandements within thee, My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,
And cause thine eares to hearken vnto wisdome, and encline thine heart to vnderstanding, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—
(For if thou callest after knowledge, and cryest for vnderstanding: yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,
If thou seekest her as siluer, & searchest for her as for treasures, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,
Then shalt thou vnderstand the feare of the Lord, and finde the knowledge of God. then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.
For the Lorde giueth wisdome, out of his mouth commeth knowledge and vnderstanding. For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He preserueth the state of the righteous: he is a shielde to them that walke vprightly, he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
That they may keepe the wayes of iudgement: and he preserueth the way of his Saintes) guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints. for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.
Then shalt thou vnderstand righteousnes, and iudgement, and equitie, and euery good path. Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path; Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path.
When wisdome entreth into thine heart, and knowledge deliteth thy soule, for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
Then shall counsell preserue thee, and vnderstanding shall keepe thee, discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard you, Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.
And deliuer thee from the euill way, and from the man that speaketh froward things, delivering you from the way of evil, from men of perverted speech, Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse,
And from them that leaue the wayes of righteousnes to walke in the wayes of darkenes: who forsake the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness, who have left the straight paths to walk in dark ways,
Which reioyce in doing euill, and delite in the frowardnesse of the wicked, who rejoice in doing evil and delight in the perverseness of evil, who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
Whose wayes are crooked and they are lewde in their paths. men whose paths are crooked, and who are devious in their ways. whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.
And it shall deliuer thee from the strange woman, euen from the stranger, which flattereth with her wordes. So you will be delivered from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words, Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman with her seductive words,
Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the couenant of her God. who forsakes the companion of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God; who has left the partner of her youth and ignored the covenant she made before God.
Surely her house tendeth to death, and her paths vnto the dead. for her house sinks down to death, and her paths to the departed; Surely her house leads down to death and her paths to the spirits of the dead.
All they that goe vnto her, returne not againe, neither take they holde of the wayes of life. none who go to her come back, nor do they regain the paths of life. None who go to her return or attain the paths of life.
Therefore walke thou in the way of good men, and keepe the wayes of the righteous. So you will walk in the way of the good and keep to the paths of the righteous. Thus you will walk in the ways of the good and keep to the paths of the righteous.
For the iust shal dwell in the land, and the vpright men shall remaine in it. For the upright will inhabit the land, and those with integrity will remain in it, For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it;
But the wicked shalbe cut off from ye earth, and the transgressours shalbe rooted out of it. but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the treacherous will be rooted out of it. but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be torn from it.
