My son, if you receive my words and you treasure my commands within you, My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,
to make your ear attentive to wisdom, you incline your heart to understanding. making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—
For if you call out for understanding, and for insight you give forth your voice, yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,
if you seek her like silver, and like hidden treasures you search for her, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of YHWH, and the knowledge of God you will find. then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.
For YHWH gives wisdom; from His mouth is knowledge and understanding. For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He stores up for the upright good sense—protection for those walking with integrity. he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
He watches over the paths of justice, and the way of His holy ones He guards. guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints. for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.
Then you will understand righteousness and justice and uprightness, every good path. Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path; Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path.
For wisdom will enter into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
Discretion will guard over you; understanding will guard you, discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard you, Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.
to snatch you from the way of evil, from the man speaking perversity— delivering you from the way of evil, from men of perverted speech, Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse,
those abandoning the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness, who forsake the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness, who have left the straight paths to walk in dark ways,
those glad to do evil, they rejoice in the perversity of evil, who rejoice in doing evil and delight in the perverseness of evil, who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
whose ways are crooked, and who are turning aside in their paths. men whose paths are crooked, and who are devious in their ways. whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.
It will deliver you from a strange woman, from a foreign woman having made smooth her words, So you will be delivered from the forbidden woman, from the adulteress with her smooth words, Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman with her seductive words,
the one having forsaken the guide of her youth, and she has forgotten the covenant of her God. who forsakes the companion of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God; who has left the partner of her youth and ignored the covenant she made before God.
