And Nobah went and captured Kenath and its villages and called it Nobah, after his own name. And Nobah went and captured Kenath and its villages, and called it Nobah, after his own name. And Nobah went and took Kenath, and the villages thereof, and called it Nobah, after his own name. Nobah went and took Kenath and its villages, and named it Nobah, after his own name. And Nobah captured Kenath and its surrounding settlements and called it Nobah after himself.
Now the Reubenites and Gadites, who had very large herds and flocks, surveyed the lands of Jazer and Gilead, and they saw that the region was suitable for livestock. Now the people of Reuben and the people of Gad had a very great number of livestock. And they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, and behold, the place was a place for livestock. Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle; Now the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad had a very large number of livestock. So when they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, that it was indeed a place suitable for livestock, The Reubenites and Gadites, who had very large herds and flocks, saw that the lands of Jazer and Gilead were suitable for livestock.
So the Gadites and Reubenites came to Moses, Eleazar the priest, and the leaders of the congregation, and said, So the people of Gad and the people of Reuben came and said to Moses and to Eleazar the priest and to the chiefs of the congregation, The children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spake unto Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of the congregation, saying, the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben came and spoke to Moses, Eleazar the priest, and to the leaders of the congregation, saying, So they came to Moses and Eleazar the priest and to the leaders of the community, and said,
“Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon, “Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon, Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon, “Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon, “Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo and Beon—
which the LORD conquered before the congregation of Israel, are suitable for livestock and your servants have livestock.” the land that the LORD struck down before the congregation of Israel, is a land for livestock, and your servants have livestock.” Even the country which the LORD smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle: the land which the LORD conquered before the congregation of Israel, is a land for livestock, and your servants have livestock.” the land the LORD subdued before the people of Israel—are suitable for livestock, and your servants have livestock.
“If we have found favor in your sight,” they said, “let this land be given to your servants as a possession. Do not make us cross the Jordan.” And they said, “If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for a possession. Do not take us across the Jordan.” Wherefore, said they, if we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession, and bring us not over Jordan. And they said, “If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your servants as our property; do not take us across the Jordan.” If we have found favor in your eyes,” they said, “let this land be given to your servants as our possession. Do not make us cross the Jordan.”
But Moses asked the Gadites and Reubenites, “Shall your brothers go to war while you sit here? But Moses said to the people of Gad and to the people of Reuben, “Shall your brothers go to the war while you sit here? And Moses said unto the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here? But Moses said to the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben, “Should your brothers go to war while you remain here? Moses said to the Gadites and Reubenites, “Should your fellow Israelites go to war while you sit here?
Why are you discouraging the Israelites from crossing into the land that the LORD has given them? Why will you discourage the heart of the people of Israel from going over into the land that the LORD has given them? And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the LORD hath given them? And why are you discouraging the sons of Israel from crossing over into the land which the LORD has given them? Why do you discourage the Israelites from crossing over into the land the LORD has given them?
This is what your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to inspect the land. Your fathers did this, when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land. Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadeshbarnea to see the land. This is what your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land. This is what your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to look over the land.
For when your fathers went up to the Valley of Eshcol and saw the land, they discouraged the Israelites from entering the land that the LORD had given them. For when they went up to the Valley of Eshcol and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the people of Israel from going into the land that the LORD had given them. For when they went up unto the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which the LORD had given them. For when they went up to the Valley of Eshcol and saw the land, they discouraged the sons of Israel so that they did not go into the land which the LORD had given them. After they went up to the Valley of Eshkol and viewed the land, they discouraged the Israelites from entering the land the LORD had given them.
So the anger of the LORD was kindled that day, and He swore an oath, saying, And the LORD’s anger was kindled on that day, and he swore, saying, And the LORD'S anger was kindled the same time, and he sware, saying, So the LORD’S anger burned on that day, and He swore, saying, The LORD’s anger was aroused that day and he swore this oath:
‘Because they did not follow Me wholeheartedly, not one of the men twenty years of age or older who came out of Egypt will see the land that I swore to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob— ‘Surely none of the men who came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land that I swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, because they have not wholly followed me, Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me: ‘None of the men who came up from Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; for they did not follow Me fully, Because they have not followed me wholeheartedly, not one of those who were twenty years old or more when they came up out of Egypt will see the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—
not one except Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua son of Nun— because they did follow the LORD wholeheartedly.’ none except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua the son of Nun, for they have wholly followed the LORD.’ Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua the son of Nun: for they have wholly followed the LORD. except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua the son of Nun; for they have followed the LORD fully.’ not one except Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua son of Nun, for they followed the LORD wholeheartedly.’
The anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until the whole generation who had done evil in His sight was gone. And the LORD’s anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the LORD was gone. And the LORD'S anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed. So the LORD’S anger burned against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness for forty years, until the entire generation of those who had done evil in the sight of the LORD came to an end. The LORD’s anger burned against Israel and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until the whole generation of those who had done evil in his sight was gone.
Now behold, you, a brood of sinners, have risen up in place of your fathers to further stoke the burning anger of the LORD against Israel. And behold, you have risen in your fathers’ place, a brood of sinful men, to increase still more the fierce anger of the LORD against Israel! And, behold, ye are risen up in your fathers' stead, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of the LORD toward Israel. Now behold, you have risen up in your fathers’ place, born of sinful men, to add still more to the burning anger of the LORD against Israel. “And here you are, a brood of sinners, standing in the place of your fathers and making the LORD even more angry with Israel.
For if you turn away from following Him, He will once again leave this people in the wilderness, and you will be the cause of their destruction.” For if you turn away from following him, he will again abandon them in the wilderness, and you will destroy all this people.” For if ye turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and ye shall destroy all this people. For if you turn away from following Him, He will once more leave them in the wilderness, and you will destroy all these people.” If you turn away from following him, he will again leave all this people in the wilderness, and you will be the cause of their destruction.”
Then the Gadites and Reubenites approached Moses and said, “We want to build sheepfolds here for our livestock and cities for our little ones. Then they came near to him and said, “We will build sheepfolds here for our livestock, and cities for our little ones, And they came near unto him, and said, We will build sheepfolds here for our cattle, and cities for our little ones: Then they approached him and said, “We will build sheepfolds for our livestock here and cities for our little ones; Then they came up to him and said, “We would like to build pens here for our livestock and cities for our women and children.
But we will arm ourselves and be ready to go ahead of the Israelites until we have brought them into their place. Meanwhile, our little ones will remain in the fortified cities for protection from the inhabitants of the land. but we will take up arms, ready to go before the people of Israel, until we have brought them to their place. And our little ones shall live in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land. But we ourselves will go ready armed before the children of Israel, until we have brought them unto their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the fenced cities because of the inhabitants of the land. but we ourselves will be armed, hurrying ahead of the sons of Israel, until we have brought them to their place, while our little ones live in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land. But we will arm ourselves for battle and go ahead of the Israelites until we have brought them to their place. Meanwhile our women and children will live in fortified cities, for protection from the inhabitants of the land.
We will not return to our homes until every Israelite has taken possession of his inheritance. We will not return to our homes until each of the people of Israel has gained his inheritance. We will not return unto our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance. We will not return to our homes until every one of the sons of Israel has gained possession of his inheritance. We will not return to our homes until each of the Israelites has received their inheritance.
Yet we will not have an inheritance with them across the Jordan and beyond, because our inheritance has come to us on the east side of the Jordan.” For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan and beyond, because our inheritance has come to us on this side of the Jordan to the east.” For we will not inherit with them on yonder side Jordan, or forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side Jordan eastward. But we will not have an inheritance with them on the other side of the Jordan and beyond, because our inheritance has come to us on this side of the Jordan toward the east.” We will not receive any inheritance with them on the other side of the Jordan, because our inheritance has come to us on the east side of the Jordan.”
Moses replied, “If you will do this— if you will arm yourselves before the LORD for battle, So Moses said to them, “If you will do this, if you will take up arms to go before the LORD for the war, And Moses said unto them, If ye will do this thing, if ye will go armed before the LORD to war, So Moses said to them, “If you will do this, if you will arm yourselves before the LORD for the war, Then Moses said to them, “If you will do this—if you will arm yourselves before the LORD for battle
and if every one of your armed men crosses the Jordan before the LORD, until He has driven His enemies out before Him, and every armed man of you will pass over the Jordan before the LORD, until he has driven out his enemies from before him And will go all of you armed over Jordan before the LORD, until he hath driven out his enemies from before him, and all of you armed men cross over the Jordan before the LORD until He has driven His enemies out from Him, and if all of you who are armed cross over the Jordan before the LORD until he has driven his enemies out before him—
then when the land is subdued before the LORD, you may return and be free of obligation to the LORD and to Israel. And this land will belong to you as a possession before the LORD. and the land is subdued before the LORD; then after that you shall return and be free of obligation to the LORD and to Israel, and this land shall be your possession before the LORD. And the land be subdued before the LORD: then afterward ye shall return, and be guiltless before the LORD, and before Israel; and this land shall be your possession before the LORD. and the land is subdued before the LORD, then afterward you may return and be free of obligation toward the LORD and toward Israel, and this land shall be yours as property before the LORD. then when the land is subdued before the LORD, you may return and be free from your obligation to the LORD and to Israel. And this land will be your possession before the LORD.
But if you do not do this, you will certainly sin against the LORD— and be assured that your sin will find you out. But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against the LORD, and be sure your sin will find you out. But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out. But if you do not do so, behold, you have sinned against the LORD, and be sure that your sin will find you out. “But if you fail to do this, you will be sinning against the LORD; and you may be sure that your sin will find you out.
Build cities for your little ones and folds for your flocks, but do what you have promised.” Build cities for your little ones and folds for your sheep, and do what you have promised.” Build you cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do that which hath proceeded out of your mouth. Build yourselves cities for your little ones, and sheepfolds for your sheep, and do what you have promised.” Build cities for your women and children, and pens for your flocks, but do what you have promised.”
The Gadites and Reubenites said to Moses, “Your servants will do just as our lord commands. And the people of Gad and the people of Reuben said to Moses, “Your servants will do as my lord commands. And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben spake unto Moses, saying, Thy servants will do as my lord commandeth. Then the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying, “Your servants will do just as my lord commands. The Gadites and Reubenites said to Moses, “We your servants will do as our lord commands.
Our children, our wives, our livestock, and all our animals will remain here in the cities of Gilead. Our little ones, our wives, our livestock, and all our cattle shall remain there in the cities of Gilead, Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our cattle, shall be there in the cities of Gilead: Our little ones, our wives, our livestock, and all our cattle shall remain there in the cities of Gilead, Our children and wives, our flocks and herds will remain here in the cities of Gilead.
But your servants are equipped for war, and every man will cross over to the battle before the LORD, just as our lord says.” but your servants will pass over, every man who is armed for war, before the LORD to battle, as my lord orders.” But thy servants will pass over, every man armed for war, before the LORD to battle, as my lord saith. while your servants, that is, everyone who is armed for war, cross over in the presence of the LORD to battle, just as my lord says.” But your servants, every man who is armed for battle, will cross over to fight before the LORD, just as our lord says.”
So Moses gave orders about them to Eleazar the priest, to Joshua son of Nun, and to the family leaders of the tribes of Israel. So Moses gave command concerning them to Eleazar the priest and to Joshua the son of Nun and to the heads of the fathers’ houses of the tribes of the people of Israel. So concerning them Moses commanded Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the chief fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel: So Moses gave the command regarding them to Eleazar the priest, to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers’ households of the tribes of the sons of Israel. Then Moses gave orders about them to Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun and to the family heads of the Israelite tribes.
And Moses said to them, “If the Gadites and Reubenites cross the Jordan with you, with every man armed for battle before the LORD, and the land is subdued before you, then you are to give them the land of Gilead as a possession. And Moses said to them, “If the people of Gad and the people of Reuben, every man who is armed to battle before the LORD, will pass with you over the Jordan and the land shall be subdued before you, then you shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession. And Moses said unto them, If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over Jordan, every man armed to battle, before the LORD, and the land shall be subdued before you; then ye shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession: And Moses said to them, “If the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben, everyone who is armed for battle, cross with you over the Jordan in the presence of the LORD, and the land is subdued before you, then you shall give them the land of Gilead as their property; He said to them, “If the Gadites and Reubenites, every man armed for battle, cross over the Jordan with you before the LORD, then when the land is subdued before you, you must give them the land of Gilead as their possession.
But if they do not arm themselves and go across with you, then they must accept their possession among you in the land of Canaan.” However, if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.” But if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan. but if they do not cross over with you armed, they shall instead be settled among you in the land of Canaan.” But if they do not cross over with you armed, they must accept their possession with you in Canaan.”
The Gadites and Reubenites replied, “As the LORD has spoken to your servants, so we will do. And the people of Gad and the people of Reuben answered, “What the LORD has said to your servants, we will do. And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, As the LORD hath said unto thy servants, so will we do. And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben answered, saying, “As the LORD has said to your servants, so we will do. The Gadites and Reubenites answered, “Your servants will do what the LORD has said.
We will cross over into the land of Canaan armed before the LORD, that we may have our inheritance on this side of the Jordan.” We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance shall remain with us beyond the Jordan.” We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, that the possession of our inheritance on this side Jordan may be ours. We ourselves will cross over armed in the presence of the LORD into the land of Canaan, and the property of our inheritance shall remain with us across the Jordan.” We will cross over before the LORD into Canaan armed, but the property we inherit will be on this side of the Jordan.”
So Moses gave to the Gadites, to the Reubenites, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan— the land including its cities and the territory surrounding them. And Moses gave to them, to the people of Gad and to the people of Reuben and to the half-tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land and its cities with their territories, the cities of the land throughout the country. And Moses gave unto them, even to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and unto half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, with the cities thereof in the coasts, even the cities of the country round about. So Moses gave to them, to the sons of Gad, the sons of Reuben, and to the half-tribe of Joseph’s son Manasseh, the kingdom of Sihon, king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og, the king of Bashan, the land with its cities with their territories, the cities of the surrounding land. Then Moses gave to the Gadites, the Reubenites and the half-tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan—the whole land with its cities and the territory around them.
And the Gadites built up Dibon, Ataroth, Aroer, And the people of Gad built Dibon, Ataroth, Aroer, And the children of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer, And the sons of Gad built Dibon, Ataroth, Aroer, The Gadites built up Dibon, Ataroth, Aroer,
Atroth-shophan, Jazer, Jogbehah, Atroth-shophan, Jazer, Jogbehah, And Atroth, Shophan, and Jaazer, and Jogbehah, Atroth-shophan, Jazer, Jogbehah, Atroth Shophan, Jazer, Jogbehah,
Beth-nimrah, and Beth-haran as fortified cities, and they built folds for their flocks. Beth-nimrah and Beth-haran, fortified cities, and folds for sheep. And Bethnimrah, and Bethharan, fenced cities: and folds for sheep. Beth-nimrah, and Beth-haran as fortified cities, and sheepfolds for sheep. Beth Nimrah and Beth Haran as fortified cities, and built pens for their flocks.
The Reubenites built up Heshbon, Elealeh, Kiriathaim, And the people of Reuben built Heshbon, Elealeh, Kiriathaim, And the children of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kirjathaim, The sons of Reuben built Heshbon, Elealeh, Kiriathaim, And the Reubenites rebuilt Heshbon, Elealeh and Kiriathaim,
as well as Nebo and Baal-meon (whose names were changed), and Sibmah. And they renamed the cities they rebuilt. Nebo, and Baal-meon (their names were changed), and Sibmah. And they gave other names to the cities that they built. And Nebo, and Baalmeon, (their names being changed,) and Shibmah: and gave other names unto the cities which they builded. Nebo, and Baal-meon—their names being changed—and Sibmah, and they gave other names to the cities which they built. as well as Nebo and Baal Meon (these names were changed) and Sibmah. They gave names to the cities they rebuilt.
The descendants of Machir son of Manasseh went to Gilead, captured it, and drove out the Amorites who were there. And the sons of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead and captured it, and dispossessed the Amorites who were in it. And the children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, and took it, and dispossessed the Amorite which was in it. The sons of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead and took it, and dispossessed the Amorites who were in it. The descendants of Makir son of Manasseh went to Gilead, captured it and drove out the Amorites who were there.
So Moses gave Gilead to the clan of Machir son of Manasseh, and they settled there. And Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh, and he settled in it. And Moses gave Gilead unto Machir the son of Manasseh; and he dwelt therein. So Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh, and he lived in it. So Moses gave Gilead to the Makirites, the descendants of Manasseh, and they settled there.
Jair, a descendant of Manasseh, went and captured their villages and called them Havvoth-jair. And Jair the son of Manasseh went and captured their villages, and called them Havvoth-jair. And Jair the son of Manasseh went and took the small towns thereof, and called them Havothjair. Jair the son of Manasseh went and took its towns, and called them Havvoth-jair. Jair, a descendant of Manasseh, captured their settlements and called them Havvoth Jair.
