8 Therefore the neighbors and those who saw that he was blind before said, “Isn’t this he who sat and begged?” The neighbors and those who had seen him before as a beggar were saying, “Is this not the man who used to sit and beg?” His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?”
9 Others were saying, “It is he.” Still others were saying, “He looks like him.” He said, “I am he.” Some said, “It is he.” Others said, “No, but he is like him.” He kept saying, “I am the man.” Some claimed that he was. Others said, “No, he only looks like him.” But he himself insisted, “I am the man.”
