1 In reply, Job responded: Then Job answered and said: Then Job replied:
2 |What a help you are to the weak! How powerfully you deliver those without strength! “How you have helped him who has no power! How you have saved the arm that has no strength! “How you have helped the powerless! How you have saved the arm that is feeble!
3 What counsel you provide to the fool! What insight you provide so abundantly! How you have counseled him who has no wisdom, and plentifully declared sound knowledge! What advice you have offered to one without wisdom! And what great insight you have displayed!
4 Who helped you say all of this? Who inspired you?| With whose help have you uttered words, and whose breath has come out from you? Who has helped you utter these words? And whose spirit spoke from your mouth?
5 |The ghosts of the dead writhe under the waters along with those who live there with them. The dead tremble under the waters and their inhabitants. “The dead are in deep anguish, those beneath the waters and all that live in them.
6 Sheol is naked before God and Abaddon has no clothes. Sheol is naked before God, and Abaddon has no covering. The realm of the dead is naked before God; Destruction lies uncovered.
7 He spreads out the north over empty space, suspending the earth over nothing. He stretches out the north over the void and hangs the earth on nothing. He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing.
8 |He restricts the waters within clouds and the clouds don't burst open under them. He binds up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not split open under them. He wraps up the waters in his clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their weight.
9 He has enclosed the face of the full moon and spread his clouds over it. He covers the face of the full moon and spreads over it his cloud. He covers the face of the full moon, spreading his clouds over it.
10 He has delimited a boundary over the surface of the oceans as a limit between light and darkness. He has inscribed a circle on the face of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness. He marks out the horizon on the face of the waters for a boundary between light and darkness.
11 The pillars of the heavens tremble and are astounded at his rebuke. The pillars of heaven tremble and are astounded at his rebuke. The pillars of the heavens quake, aghast at his rebuke.
12 By his power he disturbs the sea; and with his skill he shatters the sea monster. By his power he stilled the sea; by his understanding he shattered Rahab. By his power he churned up the sea; by his wisdom he cut Rahab to pieces.
13 he clears the skies with his wind; his hands have pierced the fleeing serpent. By his wind the heavens were made fair; his hand pierced the fleeing serpent. By his breath the skies became fair; his hand pierced the gliding serpent.
14 Indeed, these are the fringes of his ways, and how faint is the whisper we've heard of it! But who can comprehend the thunder of his might?| Behold, these are but the outskirts of his ways, and how small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?” And these are but the outer fringe of his works; how faint the whisper we hear of him! Who then can understand the thunder of his power?”
