1 Iob aunswered, and sayde: Then Job answered and said: Then Job replied:
2 Who hast thou helped? Him that is without strength? sauest thou the arme that hath no strength? “How you have helped him who has no power! How you have saved the arm that has no strength! “How you have helped the powerless! How you have saved the arm that is feeble!
3 Where is the counsayle that thou shouldest geue him which hath no wisdome? Hast thou shewed the way of right lyuing? How you have counseled him who has no wisdom, and plentifully declared sound knowledge! What advice you have offered to one without wisdom! And what great insight you have displayed!
4 To whom hast thou spoken these wordes? who made the breath to come out of thy mouth? With whose help have you uttered words, and whose breath has come out from you? Who has helped you utter these words? And whose spirit spoke from your mouth?
5 Are not dead thinges shapen vnder the waters, and thinges by the waters side? The dead tremble under the waters and their inhabitants. “The dead are in deep anguish, those beneath the waters and all that live in them.
6 He is naked before him, and the very destruction it selfe can not be hyd out of his sight. Sheol is naked before God, and Abaddon has no covering. The realm of the dead is naked before God; Destruction lies uncovered.
7 He stretcheth out the noorth ouer the emptie place, and hangeth the earth vpon nothing. He stretches out the north over the void and hangs the earth on nothing. He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing.
8 He byndeth the water in his cloudes, & the cloude is not broken vnder them. He binds up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not split open under them. He wraps up the waters in his clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their weight.
9 He holdeth backe the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloude before it. He covers the face of the full moon and spreads over it his cloud. He covers the face of the full moon, spreading his clouds over it.
10 He hath compassed the waters with certayne boundes, vntill the day and night come to an ende. He has inscribed a circle on the face of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness. He marks out the horizon on the face of the waters for a boundary between light and darkness.
11 The very pillers of heauen tremble and quake at his reproofe. The pillars of heaven tremble and are astounded at his rebuke. The pillars of the heavens quake, aghast at his rebuke.
12 He stilleth the sea with his power, and through his wysdome smyteth he the strength therof. By his power he stilled the sea; by his understanding he shattered Rahab. By his power he churned up the sea; by his wisdom he cut Rahab to pieces.
13 His spirite hath garnished the heauens, & his hand hath made the crooked serpent. By his wind the heavens were made fair; his hand pierced the fleeing serpent. By his breath the skies became fair; his hand pierced the gliding serpent.
14 Lo, this is now a short summe of his wayes: but howe litle a portion heare we of hym? who can vnderstande the thunder of his power? Behold, these are but the outskirts of his ways, and how small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?” And these are but the outer fringe of his works; how faint the whisper we hear of him! Who then can understand the thunder of his power?”
