1 “I revealed Myself to those who did not ask for Me; I was found by those who did not seek Me. To a nation that did not call My name, I said, ‘Here I am! Here I am!’ I was ready to be sought by those who did not ask for me; I was ready to be found by those who did not seek me. I said, “Here I am, here I am,” to a nation that was not called by my name. I am sought of <i>them that</i> asked not <i>for me</i>; I am found of <i>them that</i> sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation <i>that</i> was not called by my name. “I permitted Myself to be sought by those who did not ask <i>for Me;</i> I permitted Myself to be found by those who did not seek Me. I said, ‘Here am I, here am I,’ To a nation which did not call on My name. “I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. 2 All day long I have held out My hands to an obstinate people who walk in the wrong path, who follow their own imaginations, I spread out my hands all the day to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, following their own devices; I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way <i>that was</i> not good, after their own thoughts; “I have spread out My hands all day long to a rebellious people, Who walk <i>in</i> the way which is not good, following their own thoughts, All day long I have held out my hands to an obstinate people, who walk in ways not good, pursuing their own imaginations—
3 to a people who continually provoke Me to My face, sacrificing in the gardens and burning incense on altars of brick, a people who provoke me to my face continually, sacrificing in gardens and making offerings on bricks; A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick; A people who continually provoke Me to My face, Offering sacrifices in gardens and burning incense on bricks; a people who continually provoke me to my very face, offering sacrifices in gardens and burning incense on altars of brick;
4 sitting among the graves, spending nights in secret places, eating the meat of pigs and polluted broth from their bowls. who sit in tombs, and spend the night in secret places; who eat pig’s flesh, and broth of tainted meat is in their vessels; Which remain among the graves, and lodge in the monuments, which eat swine's flesh, and broth of abominable <i>things is in</i> their vessels; Who sit among graves and spend the night in secret places; Who eat pig’s flesh, And the broth of unclean meat is <i>in</i> their pots. who sit among the graves and spend their nights keeping secret vigil; who eat the flesh of pigs, and whose pots hold broth of impure meat;
5 They say, ‘Keep to yourself; do not come near me, for I am holier than you!’ Such people are smoke in My nostrils, a fire that burns all day long. who say, “Keep to yourself, do not come near me, for I am too holy for you.” These are a smoke in my nostrils, a fire that burns all the day. Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These <i>are</i> a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day. “Who say, ‘Keep to yourself, do not come near me, For I am holier than you!’ These are smoke in My nostrils, A fire that burns all the day. who say, ‘Keep away; don’t come near me, for I am too sacred for you!’ Such people are smoke in my nostrils, a fire that keeps burning all day.
6 Behold, it is written before Me: I will not keep silent, but I will repay; I will pay it back into their laps, Behold, it is written before me: “I will not keep silent, but I will repay; I will indeed repay into their lap Behold, <i>it is</i> written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom, “Behold, it is written before Me: I will not keep silent, but I will repay; I will even repay into their laps, “See, it stands written before me: I will not keep silent but will pay back in full; I will pay it back into their laps—
7 both for your iniquities and for those of your fathers,” says the LORD. “Because they burned incense on the mountains and scorned Me on the hills, I will measure into their laps full payment for their former deeds.” both your iniquities and your fathers’ iniquities together, says the LORD; because they made offerings on the mountains and insulted me on the hills, I will measure into their lap payment for their former deeds.” Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith the LORD, which have burned incense upon the mountains, and blasphemed me upon the hills: therefore will I measure their former work into their bosom. Thus says the LORD: “As the new wine is found in the cluster, and they say, ‘Do not destroy it, for there is a blessing in it,’ so I will do for my servants’ sake, and not destroy them all. Thus saith the LORD, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and <i>one</i> saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing <i>is</i> in it: so will I do for my servants' sakes, that I may not destroy them all. This is what the LORD says: “Just as the new wine is found in the cluster, And one says, ‘Do not destroy it, for there is benefit in it,’ So I will act in behalf of My servants In order not to destroy all of them. This is what the LORD says: “As when juice is still found in a cluster of grapes and people say, ‘Don’t destroy it, there is still a blessing in it,’ so will I do in behalf of my servants; I will not destroy them all.
9 And I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, and heirs from Judah; My elect will possess My mountains, and My servants will dwell there. I will bring forth offspring from Jacob, and from Judah possessors of my mountains; my chosen shall possess it, and my servants shall dwell there. And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there. “I will bring forth offspring from Jacob, And an heir of My mountains from Judah; My chosen ones shall inherit it, And My servants will live there. I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, and from Judah those who will possess my mountains; my chosen people will inherit them, and there will my servants live.
10 Sharon will become a pasture for flocks, and the Valley of Achor a resting place for herds, for My people who seek Me. Sharon shall become a pasture for flocks, and the Valley of Achor a place for herds to lie down, for my people who have sought me. 11 But you who forsake the LORD, who forget My holy mountain, who set a table for Fortune and fill bowls of mixed wine for Destiny, But you who forsake the LORD, who forget my holy mountain, who set a table for Fortune and fill cups of mixed wine for Destiny, But ye <i>are</i> they that forsake the LORD, that forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table for that troop, and that furnish the drink offering unto that number. “But as for you who abandon the LORD, Who forget My holy mountain, Who set a table for Fortune, And fill a jug of mixed wine for Destiny, “But as for you who forsake the LORD and forget my holy mountain, who spread a table for Fortune and fill bowls of mixed wine for Destiny,
12 I will destine you for the sword, and you will all kneel down to be slaughtered, because I called and you did not answer, I spoke and you did not listen; you did evil in My sight and chose that in which I did not delight.” I will destine you to the sword, and all of you shall bow down to the slaughter, because, when I called, you did not answer; when I spoke, you did not listen, but you did what was evil in my eyes and chose what I did not delight in.” Therefore will I number you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter: because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spake, ye did not hear; but did evil before mine eyes, and did choose <i>that</i> wherein I delighted not. I will destine you for the sword, And all of you will bow down to the slaughter. Because I called, but you did not answer; I spoke, but you did not listen. Instead, you did evil in My sight And chose that in which I did not delight.” I will destine you for the sword, and all of you will fall in the slaughter; for I called but you did not answer, I spoke but you did not listen. You did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me.”
13 Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: “My servants will eat, but you will go hungry; My servants will drink, but you will go thirsty; My servants will rejoice, but you will be put to shame. Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, my servants shall eat, but you shall be hungry; behold, my servants shall drink, but you shall be thirsty; behold, my servants shall rejoice, but you shall be put to shame; Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry: behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty: behold, my servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed: Therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says: “Behold, My servants will eat, but you will be hungry. Behold, My servants will drink, but you will be thirsty. Behold, My servants will rejoice, but you will be put to shame. Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: “My servants will eat, but you will go hungry; my servants will drink, but you will go thirsty; my servants will rejoice, but you will be put to shame.
14 My servants will shout for joy with a glad heart, but you will cry out with a heavy heart and wail with a broken spirit. behold, my servants shall sing for gladness of heart, but you shall cry out for pain of heart and shall wail for breaking of spirit. Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit. “Behold, My servants will shout joyfully with a glad heart, But you will cry out from a painful heart, And you will wail from a broken spirit. My servants will sing out of the joy of their hearts, but you will cry out from anguish of heart and wail in brokenness of spirit.
15 You will leave behind your name as a curse for My chosen ones, and the Lord GOD will slay you; but to His servants He will give another name. You shall leave your name to my chosen for a curse, and the Lord GOD will put you to death, but his servants he will call by another name, And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord GOD shall slay thee, and call his servants by another name: “You will leave your name as a curse to My chosen ones, And the Lord GOD will put you to death. But My servants will be called by another name. You will leave your name for my chosen ones to use in their curses; the Sovereign LORD will put you to death, but to his servants he will give another name.
16 Whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the God of truth, and whoever takes an oath in the land will swear by the God of truth. For the former troubles will be forgotten and hidden from My sight. so that he who blesses himself in the land shall bless himself by the God of truth, and he who takes an oath in the land shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten and are hidden from my eyes. That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes. “Because the one who is blessed on the earth Will be blessed by the God of truth; And the one who swears <i>an oath</i> on the earth Will swear by the God of truth; Because the former troubles are forgotten, And because they are hidden from My sight! Whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the one true God; whoever takes an oath in the land will swear by the one true God. For the past troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes.
17 For behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind. For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former things will not be remembered or come to mind. “See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. 18 But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; for I will create Jerusalem to be a joy and its people to be a delight. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy.
19 I will rejoice in Jerusalem and take delight in My people. The sounds of weeping and crying will no longer be heard in her. I will rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in my people; no more shall be heard in it the sound of weeping and the cry of distress. And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. “I will also rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in My people; And there will no longer be heard in her The voice of weeping and the sound of crying. I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more.
20 No longer will a nursing infant live but a few days, or an old man fail to live out his years. For the youth will die at a hundred years, and he who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed. No more shall there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not fill out his days, for the young man shall die a hundred years old, and the sinner a hundred years old shall be accursed. There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner <i>being</i> an hundred years old shall be accursed. “No longer will there be in it an infant <i>who lives only a few</i> days, Or an old person who does not live out his days; For the youth will die at the age of a hundred, And the one who does not reach the age of a hundred Will be <i>thought</i> accursed. “Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years; the one who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere child; the one who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed.
21 They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. And they shall build houses, and inhabit <i>them</i>; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. “They will build houses and inhabit <i>them;</i> They will also plant vineyards and eat their fruit. 22 No longer will they build houses for others to inhabit, nor plant for others to eat. For as is the lifetime of a tree, so will be the days of My people, and My chosen ones will fully enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat; for like the days of a tree shall the days of my people be, and my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree <i>are</i> the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. “They will not build and another inhabit, They will not plant and another eat; For as the lifetime of a tree, <i>so will be</i> the days of My people, And My chosen ones will fully enjoy the work of their hands. No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the work of their hands.
23 They will not labor in vain or bear children doomed to disaster; for they will be a people blessed by the LORD— they and their descendants with them. They shall not labor in vain or bear children for calamity, for they shall be the offspring of the blessed of the LORD, and their descendants with them. They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they <i>are</i> the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them. “They will not labor in vain, Or give birth <i>to children</i> for disaster; For they are the descendants of those blessed by the LORD, And their descendants with them. They will not labor in vain, nor will they bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the LORD, they and their descendants with them.
24 Even before they call, I will answer, and while they are still speaking, I will hear. Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear. And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will listen. Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.
25 The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but the food of the serpent will be dust. They will neither harm nor destroy on all My holy mountain,” says the LORD. The wolf and the lamb shall graze together; the lion shall eat straw like the ox, and dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain,” says the LORD. The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust <i>shall be</i> the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD. The wolf and the lamb will graze together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox; and dust will be the serpent’s food.
