4 Consequently the supervisors and satraps were trying to find some pretext against Daniel in connection with administrative matters. But they were unable to find any such damaging evidence, because he was trustworthy and guilty of no negligence or corruption. Then the high officials and the satraps sought to find a ground for complaint against Daniel with regard to the kingdom, but they could find no ground for complaint or any fault, because he was faithful, and no error or fault was found in him. At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent.
5 So these men concluded, |We won't find any pretext against this man Daniel unless it is in connection with the law of his God.| Then these men said, “We shall not find any ground for complaint against this Daniel unless we find it in connection with the law of his God.” Finally these men said, “We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.”
