3 וַיְהִ֥י יְהוָ֖ה עִם־ יְהוֹשָׁפָ֑ט כִּ֣י הָלַ֗ךְ בְּדַרְכֵ֞י דָּוִ֤יד אָבִיו֙ הָרִ֣אשֹׁנִ֔ים וְלֹ֥א דָרַ֖שׁ לַבְּעָלִֽים׃ The LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the earlier ways of his father David. He did not seek the Baals, The LORD was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the ways of his father David before him. He did not consult the Baals
4 כִּ֠י לֵֽאלֹהֵ֤י אָבִיו֙ דָּרָ֔שׁ וּבְמִצְוֺתָ֖יו הָלָ֑ךְ וְלֹ֖א כְּמַעֲשֵׂ֥ה יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ but sought the God of his father and walked in his commandments, and not according to the practices of Israel. but sought the God of his father and followed his commands rather than the practices of Israel.
5 וַיָּ֨כֶן יְהוָ֤ה אֶת־ הַמַּמְלָכָה֙ בְּיָד֔וֹ וַיִּתְּנ֧וּ כָל־ יְהוּדָ֛ה מִנְחָ֖ה לִיהוֹשָׁפָ֑ט וַֽיְהִי־ ל֥וֹ עֹֽשֶׁר־ וְכָב֖וֹד לָרֹֽב׃ Therefore the LORD established the kingdom in his hand. And all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had great riches and honor. The LORD established the kingdom under his control; and all Judah brought gifts to Jehoshaphat, so that he had great wealth and honor.
6 וַיִּגְבַּ֥הּ לִבּ֖וֹ בְּדַרְכֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וְע֗וֹד הֵסִ֛יר אֶת־ הַבָּמ֥וֹת וְאֶת־ הָאֲשֵׁרִ֖ים מִיהוּדָֽה׃ פ His heart was courageous in the ways of the LORD. And furthermore, he took the high places and the Asherim out of Judah. His heart was devoted to the ways of the LORD; furthermore, he removed the high places and the Asherah poles from Judah.
