1 Whoredom is actually heard of among you, and such whoredom as is not even named among the nations -- as that one hath the wife of the father! -- It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that is not tolerated even among pagans, for a man has his father’s wife. It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife.
2 and ye are having been puffed up, and did not rather mourn, that he may be removed out of the midst of you who did this work, And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from among you. And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who has been doing this?
3 for I indeed, as being absent as to the body, and present as to the spirit, have already judged, as being present, him who so wrought this thing: For though absent in body, I am present in spirit; and as if present, I have already pronounced judgment on the one who did such a thing. For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. As one who is present with you in this way, I have already passed judgment in the name of our Lord Jesus on the one who has been doing this.
4 in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ -- ye being gathered together, also my spirit -- with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, When you are assembled in the name of the Lord Jesus and my spirit is present, with the power of our Lord Jesus, So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present,
5 to deliver up such a one to the Adversary for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. you are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord. hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.
6 Not good is your glorying; have ye not known that a little leaven the whole lump doth leaven? Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough?
7 cleanse out, therefore, the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, according as ye are unleavened, for also our passover for us was sacrificed -- Christ, Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.
8 so that we may keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of evil and wickedness, but with unleavened food of sincerity and truth. Let us therefore celebrate the festival, not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 9 I did write to you in the epistle, not to keep company with whoremongers -- I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people—
10 and not certainly with the whoremongers of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, seeing ye ought then to go forth out of the world -- not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world.
11 and now, I did write to you not to keep company with him, if any one, being named a brother, may be a whoremonger, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner -- with such a one not even to eat together; But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one. But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.
12 for what have I also those without to judge? those within do ye not judge? For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?
13 and those without God doth judge; and put ye away the evil from among yourselves. God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.” God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”
