1 It is heard certainely that there is fornication among you: and such fornication as is not once named among the Gentiles, that one should haue his fathers wife. It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that is not tolerated even among pagans, for a man has his father’s wife. It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife.
2 And ye are puffed vp and haue not rather sorowed, that he which hath done this deede, might be put from among you. And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from among you. And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who has been doing this?
3 For I verely as absent in bodie, but present in spirit, haue determined already as though I were present, that he that hath thus done this thing, For though absent in body, I am present in spirit; and as if present, I have already pronounced judgment on the one who did such a thing. For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. As one who is present with you in this way, I have already passed judgment in the name of our Lord Jesus on the one who has been doing this.
4 When ye are gathered together, and my spirit, in the Name of our Lord Iesus Christ, that such one, I say, by the power of our Lord Iesus Christ, When you are assembled in the name of the Lord Jesus and my spirit is present, with the power of our Lord Jesus, So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present,
5 Be deliuered vnto Satan, for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saued in the day of the Lord Iesus. you are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord. hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.
6 Your reioycing is not good: knowe ye not that a litle leauen, leaueneth ye whole lumpe? Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough?
7 Purge out therefore the olde leauen, that ye may be a newe lumpe, as ye are vnleauened: for Christ our Passeouer is sacrificed for vs. Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.
8 Therefore let vs keepe the feast, not with olde leauen, neither in the leauen of maliciousnes and wickednesse: but with the vnleauened bread of synceritie and trueth. Let us therefore celebrate the festival, not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
9 I wrote vnto you in an Epistle, that ye should not companie together with fornicatours, I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people—
10 And not altogether with the fornicatours of this world, or with the couetous, or with extorsioners, or with idolaters: for then ye must goe out of the world. not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world.
11 But nowe I haue written vnto you, that ye companie not together: if any that is called a brother, be a fornicatour, or couetous, or an idolater, or a rayler, or a drunkard, or an extorsioner, with such one eate not. But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one. But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.
12 For what haue I to doe, to iudge them also which are without? doe ye not iudge them that are within? For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?
13 But God iudgeth them that are without. Put away therefore from among your selues that wicked man. God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.” God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”
