1 So, brothers and sisters, I could not speak to you as spiritual people, but instead as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ.
2 I fed you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready. In fact, you are still not ready, I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready, I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready.
3 for you are still influenced by the flesh. For since there is still jealousy and dissension among you, are you not influenced by the flesh and behaving like unregenerate people? for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way? You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans?
4 For whenever someone says, |I am with Paul,| or |I am with Apollos,| are you not merely human? For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not being merely human? For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere human beings?
5 What is Apollos, really? Or what is Paul? Servants through whom you came to believe, and each of us in the ministry the Lord gave us. What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each. What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task.
6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God caused it to grow. I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.
7 So neither the one who plants counts for anything, nor the one who waters, but God who causes the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.
8 The one who plants and the one who waters work as one, but each will receive his reward according to his work. He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor.
9 We are coworkers belonging to God. You are God's field, God's building. For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.
10 According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master-builder I laid a foundation, but someone else builds on it. And each one must be careful how he builds. According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care.

13 each builder's work will be plainly seen, for the Day will make it clear, because it will be revealed by fire. 14 If what someone has built survives, he will receive a reward. If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward.
15 If someone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss. He himself will be saved, but only as through fire. If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.
16 Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
17 If someone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, which is what you are. If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple. If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.
18 Guard against self-deception, each of you. If someone among you thinks he is wise in this age, let him become foolish so that he can become wise. Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise.
19 For the wisdom of this age is foolishness with God. As it is written, |He catches the wise in their craftiness.| For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness,” For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness|;
20 And again, |The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.| and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.” and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”
21 So then, no more boasting about mere mortals! For everything belongs to you, So let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, So then, no more boasting about human leaders! All things are yours,
22 whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future. Everything belongs to you, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours,
23 and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God. and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s. and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God.
