1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
2 And if I have prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
3 And if I shall dole out all my goods in food, and if I deliver up my body that I may be burned, but have not love, I profit nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love has long patience, is kind; love is not emulous [of others]; love is not insolent and rash, is not puffed up, Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5 does not behave in an unseemly manner, does not seek what is its own, is not quickly provoked, does not impute evil, or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6 does not rejoice at iniquity but rejoices with the truth, it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails; but whether prophecies, they shall be done away; or tongues, they shall cease; or knowledge, it shall be done away. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part: For we know in part and we prophesy in part, For we know in part and we prophesy in part,
10 but when that which is perfect has come, that which is in part shall be done away. but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I felt as a child, I reasoned as a child; when I became a man, I had done with what belonged to the child. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
12 For we see now through a dim window obscurely, but then face to face; now I know partially, but then I shall know according as I also have been known. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now abide faith, hope, love; these three things; and the greater of these [is] love. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
