2 To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours: To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours: Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called <i>to be</i> saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: To the church of God which is in Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their <i>Lord</i> and ours: To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be his holy people, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours:
3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace <i>be</i> unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and <i>from</i> the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 4 I always thank my God for you because of the grace He has given you in Christ Jesus. I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus.
5 For in Him you have been enriched in every way, in all speech and all knowledge, that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge— That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and <i>in</i> all knowledge; that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge, For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge—
6 because our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you. even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you— Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: just as the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed in you, God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you.
7 Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ. so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you eagerly await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed.
8 He will sustain you to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. Who shall also confirm you unto the end, <i>that ye may be</i> blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. who will also confirm you to the end, blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 God, who has called you into fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful. God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. God <i>is</i> faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. 10 I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree together, so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be united in mind and conviction. I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment. Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and <i>that</i> there be no divisions among you; but <i>that</i> ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. Now I urge you, brothers <i>and sisters,</i> by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment. I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.
11 My brothers, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. For it has been reported to me by Chloe’s people that there is quarreling among you, my brothers. For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them <i>which are of the house</i> of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. For I have been informed concerning you, my brothers <i>and sisters,</i> by Chloe’s <i>people,</i> that there are quarrels among you. My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you.
12 What I mean is this: Individuals among you are saying, “I follow Paul, “I follow Apollos, “I follow Cephas,” or “I follow Christ. What I mean is that each one of you says, “I follow Paul,” or “I follow Apollos,” or “I follow Cephas,” or “I follow Christ.” Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. Now I mean this, that each one of you is saying, “I am with Paul,” or “I <i>am</i> with Apollos,” or “I <i>am</i> with Cephas,” or “I <i>am</i> with Christ.” What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul|; another, “I follow Apollos|; another, “I follow Cephas|; still another, “I follow Christ.”
13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul? Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul?
14 I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius, I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; I am thankful that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius,
15 so no one can say that you were baptized into my name. so that no one may say that you were baptized in my name. Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name. so that no one would say you were baptized in my name! so no one can say that you were baptized in my name.
16 Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that I do not remember if I baptized anyone else. (I did baptize also the household of Stephanas. Beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized anyone else.) And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other. But I did baptize the household of Stephanas also; beyond that, I do not know if I baptized anyone else. (Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don’t remember if I baptized anyone else.)
17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with words of wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. 18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.” For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.” For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. For it is written: “I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE, AND THE UNDERSTANDING OF THOSE WHO HAVE UNDERSTANDING, I WILL CONFOUND.” For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”
20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? Where <i>is</i> the wise? where <i>is</i> the scribe? where <i>is</i> the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? Where is the wise person? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made foolish the wisdom of the world? Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know Him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not <i>come to</i> know God, God was pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.
22 Jews demand signs and Greeks search for wisdom, For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom,
23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles foolishness, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,
24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For the foolishness of God is wiser than mankind, and the weakness of God is stronger than mankind. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
26 Brothers, consider the time of your calling: Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were powerful; not many were of noble birth. For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, <i>are called</i>: For consider your calling, brothers <i>and sisters,</i> that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.
27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
28 He chose the lowly and despised things of the world, and the things that are not, to nullify the things that are, God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, <i>yea</i>, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: and the insignificant things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are,
29 so that no one may boast in His presence. so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. That no flesh should glory in his presence. so that no human may boast before God. so that no one may boast before him.
30 It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God: our righteousness, holiness, and redemption. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: But <i>it is</i> due to Him <i>that</i> you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.
31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.” so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. so that, just as it is written: “LET THE ONE WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD.” Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”
