Then Bildad the Shuhite replied: | 1Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said: |
"Dominion and awe belong to God; he establishes order in the heights of heaven. | 2“Dominion and fear are with God; he makes peace in his high heaven. |
Can his forces be numbered? On whom does his light not rise? | 3Is there any number to his armies? Upon whom does his light not arise? |
How then can a mortal be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure? | 4How then can man be in the right before God? How can he who is born of woman be pure? |
If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his eyes, | 5Behold, even the moon is not bright, and the stars are not pure in his eyes; |
how much less a mortal, who is but a maggot-- a human being, who is only a worm!" | 6how much less man, who is a maggot, and the son of man, who is a worm!” |
