Then Bildad the Shuhite answered, | 1Then Bildad the Shuhite replied: |
"Dominion and awe belong to Him Who establishes peace in His heights. | 2“God is powerful and dreadful. He enforces peace in the heavens. |
"Is there any number to His troops? And upon whom does His light not rise? | 3Who is able to count his heavenly army? Doesn’t his light shine on all the earth? |
"How then can a man be just with God? Or how can he be clean who is born of woman? | 4How can a mortal be innocent before God? Can anyone born of a woman be pure? |
"If even the moon has no brightness And the stars are not pure in His sight, | 5God is more glorious than the moon; he shines brighter than the stars. |
How much less man, that maggot, And the son of man, that worm!" | 6In comparison, people are maggots; we mortals are mere worms.” |
