Job 26
ESV Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
English Standard VersionKing James Bible
Then Job answered and said:1But Job answered and said,
“How you have helped him who has no power! How you have saved the arm that has no strength!2How hast thou helped him that is without power? how savest thou the arm that hath no strength?
How you have counseled him who has no wisdom, and plentifully declared sound knowledge!3How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom? and how hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is?
With whose help have you uttered words, and whose breath has come out from you?4To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?
The dead tremble under the waters and their inhabitants.5Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.
Sheol is naked before God, and Abaddon has no covering.6Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.
He stretches out the north over the void and hangs the earth on nothing.7He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
He binds up the waters in his thick clouds, and the cloud is not split open under them.8He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.
He covers the face of the full moon and spreads over it his cloud.9He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.
He has inscribed a circle on the face of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness.10He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.
The pillars of heaven tremble and are astounded at his rebuke.11The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.
By his power he stilled the sea; by his understanding he shattered Rahab.12He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.
By his wind the heavens were made fair; his hand pierced the fleeing serpent.13By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.
Behold, these are but the outskirts of his ways, and how small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?”14Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?
