Proverbs 26:23 Parallel
CommentaryWesley's Notes on the Bible
26:23 Burning - With malice or hatred: A slanderous or evil tongue. Dross - Such a tongue and heart are of no real worth, although sometimes they make a shew of it, as dross does of silver.
"What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs--beautiful on the outside but filled on the inside with dead people's bones and all sorts of impurity.
Then the Lord said to him, "You Pharisees are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are filthy--full of greed and wickedness!
Remove the impurities from silver, and the sterling will be ready for the silversmith.
They pretend to be kind, but don't believe them. Their hearts are full of many evils.
