Lamentations 5:5 Parallel
CommentaryLamentations 5:5 Parallel Commentaries
"So now today we are slaves in the land of plenty that you gave our ancestors for their enjoyment! We are slaves here in this good land.
The lush produce of this land piles up in the hands of the kings whom you have set over us because of our sins. They have power over us and our livestock. We serve them at their pleasure, and we are in great misery."
This is what the LORD of Heaven's Armies says: "The thick walls of Babylon will be leveled to the ground, and her massive gates will be burned. The builders from many lands have worked in vain, for their work will be destroyed by fire!"
But this is what the LORD says: "I will reward your evil with evil; you won't be able to pull your neck out of the noose. You will no longer walk around proudly, for it will be a terrible time."
