For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.
I will wait for the LORD, who has turned away from the descendants of Jacob. I will put my hope in him.
But the LORD will have mercy on the descendants of Jacob. He will choose Israel as his special people once again. He will bring them back to settle once again in their own land. And people from many different nations will come and join them there and unite with the people of Israel.
Go home, my people, and lock your doors! Hide yourselves for a little while until the LORD's anger has passed.
O Jacob, how can you say the LORD does not see your troubles? O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights?
This is what the LORD says--your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow.
They will neither hunger nor thirst. The searing sun will not reach them anymore. For the LORD in his mercy will lead them; he will lead them beside cool waters.
