Or 'I don't know what evil I have done--tell me. If I have done wrong, I will stop at once'?
I will plant trees in the barren desert--cedar, acacia, myrtle, olive, cypress, fir, and pine.
It will become a majestic cedar, sending forth its branches and producing seed. Birds of every sort will nest in it, finding shelter in the shade of its branches.
"Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols.
Assyria cannot save us, nor can our warhorses. Never again will we say to the idols we have made, You are our gods.' No, in you alone do the orphans find mercy."
