CommentaryWesley's Notes on the Bible
8:12 For I will justify them, which is the root of all true knowledge of God. This, therefore, is God's method. First, a sinner is pardoned: then he knows God, as gracious and merciful then God's laws are written on his heart: he is God's, and God is his.

"Now, if there was perfection through the Levitical priesthood (for under it hath the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should arise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be reckoned after the order of Aaron? Jesus, the Mediator of the New Covenant
"I--yes, I alone--will blot out your sins for my own sake and will never think of them again.
And they will not need to teach their neighbors, nor will they need to teach their relatives, saying, 'You should know the LORD.' For everyone, from the least to the greatest, will know me already," says the LORD. "And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins."
In those days," says the LORD, "no sin will be found in Israel or in Judah, for I will forgive the remnant I preserve.
Where is another God like you, who pardons the guilt of the remnant, overlooking the sins of his special people? You will not stay angry with your people forever, because you delight in showing unfailing love.

And this is my covenant with them, that I will take away their sins."
Then he says, "I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds."
