CommentaryBarnes' Notes on the Bible
Her walls - It is Possible that not the city walls, but those of a vineyard are meant. Judaea is God's vineyard Isaiah 5:1-7, and God permits the enemy to enter the vineyard to destroy her.
Battlements - tendrils. The tendrils and branches of Judah's vine are given up to ruin, but not the stock. See Isaiah 6:13 note.

"Shall I not punish these people," declares the LORD, "And on a nation such as this Shall I not avenge Myself?
"For the house of Israel and the house of Judah Have dealt very treacherously with Me," declares the LORD.

"Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are on the sinful kingdom, And I will destroy it from the face of the earth; Nevertheless, I will not totally destroy the house of Jacob," Declares the LORD.
