Porquanto Jesus ordenara ao espírito imundo que abandonasse o corpo daquele homem. Diversas vezes o demônio havia se apoderado dele. Mesmo com os pés e as mãos acorrentados, e vigiado por guardas, arrebentava as cadeias e os grilhões, e era impelido pelo demônio para lugares desolados.
