as the high priest and all the Council can themselves testify. I even obtained letters from them to their associates in Damascus, and went there to bring these people as prisoners to Jerusalem to be punished.

The high priest and the whole council of elders can testify that this is so. For I received letters from them to our Jewish brothers in Damascus, authorizing me to bring the Christians from there to Jerusalem, in chains, to be punished.

The chief priest and the entire council of our leaders can prove that I did this. In fact, they even gave me letters to take to the Jewish community in the city of Damascus. I was going there to tie up believers and bring them back to Jerusalem to punish them.

como bem pode testemunhar o sumo sacerdote, assim como todo o conselho dos anciãos. Visto que deles recebi cartas requisitando a cooperação dos irmãos, e segui para Damasco, com a finalidade de deter e trazer algemados para Jerusalém os que ali estivessem para serem severamente punidos.
