By comparing what we were by nature, with what we are by grace,
   1 kai  umas  ontas  nekrous  tois  paraptōmasin  kai  tais  amartiais  umōn,  2 en  ais  pote  periepatēsate  kata  ton  aiōna  tou  kosmou  toutou,  kata  ton  archonta  tēs  exousias  tou  aeros,  tou  pneumatos  tou  nun  energountos  en  tois  uiois  tēs  apeitheias·  3 en  ois  kai  ēmeis  pantes  anestraphēmen  pote  en  tais  epithumiais  tēs  sarkos  ēmōn  poiountes  ta  thelēmata  tēs  sarkos  kai  tōn  dianoiōn,  kai  ēmetha  tekna  phusei  orgēs  ōs  kai  oi  loipoi·  4 o  de  theos  plousios  ōn  en  eleei,  dia  tēn  pollēn  agapēn  autou  ēn  ēgapēsen  ēmas,  5 kai  ontas  ēmas  nekrous  tois  paraptōmasin  sunezōopoiēsen  tō  christō—  chariti  este  sesōsmenoi—  6 kai  sunēgeiren  kai  sunekathisen  en  tois  epouraniois  en  christō  iēsou,  7 ina  endeixētai  en  tois  aiōsin  tois  eperchomenois  to  uperballon  ploutos  tēs  charitos  autou  en  chrēstotēti  eph  ēmas  en  christō  iēsou,  8 tē  gar  chariti  este  sesōsmenoi  dia  pisteōs·  kai  touto  ouk  ex  umōn,  theou  to  dōron·  9 ouk  ex  ergōn,  ina  mē  tis  kauchēsētai. 
he declares that we are made for good works: and being brought near by Christ,
   11 dio  mnēmoneuete  oti  pote  umeis  ta  ethnē  en  sarki,  oi  legomenoi  akrobustia  upo  tēs  legomenēs  peritomēs  en  sarki  cheiropoiētou,  12 oti  ēte  tō  kairō  ekeinō  chōris  christou  apēllotriōmenoi  tēs  politeias  tou  israēl  kai  xenoi  tōn  diathēkōn  tēs  epangelias,  elpida  mē  echontes  kai  atheoi  en  tō  kosmō.  13 nuni  de  en  christō  iēsou  umeis  oi  pote  ontes  makran  egenēthēte  engus  en  tō  aimati  tou  christou. 
   14 autos  gar  estin  ē  eirēnē  ēmōn,  o  poiēsas  ta  amphotera  en  kai  to  mesotoichon  tou  phragmou  lusas,  15 tēn  echthran  en  tē  sarki  autou,  ton  nomon  tōn  entolōn  en  dogmasin  katargēsas  ina  tous  duo  ktisē  en  autō  eis  ena  kainon  anthrōpon  poiōn  eirēnēn  16 kai  apokatallaxē  tous  amphoterous  en  eni  sōmati  tō  theō  dia  tou  staurou,  apokteinas  tēn  echthran  en  autō.  17 kai  elthōn  euēngelisato  eirēnēn  umin  tois  makran  kai  eirēnēn  tois  engus·  18 oti  di  autou  echomen  tēn  prosagōgēn  oi  amphoteroi  en  eni  pneumati  pros  ton  patera. 
should not live as Gentiles and foreigners, but as citizens with the saints, and the family of God.
