Then the city was broken into, and all the warriors fled. They left the city by night by way of the gate between the two walls near the king’s garden, though the Chaldeans surrounded the city. They made their way along the route to the ^•Arabah. 

New American Standard Bible
Then the city was broken into, and all the men of war fled and went forth from the city at night by way of the gate between the two walls which [was] by the king's garden, though the Chaldeans were all around the city. And they went by way of the Arabah.

The wall of the city was broken through, and all the soldiers fled, leaving the city at night through the gate between the two walls next to the king's garden, even though the Chaldeans were all around the city. They went in the direction of the Arabah.
