1And I shall give my covenant between me and you and I shall increase you greatly.” 2And Abram fell on his face and God spoke with him and said to him, 3“Behold, I do establish my covenant with you and you shall be the father to the multitude of the nations. 4And your name shall not be called Abram again, but your name shall be Abraham, because I have given you as the father to the multitude of the nations. 5And I shall make you fruitful, and I shall increase you greatly, and I shall give you the nations, and Kings will go out from your loins. 6And I shall establish my covenant between me and you and between your seed after you to their generations for an eternal covenant and I shall be God to you and to your seed after you. 7And I shall give you and your seed after you the land of your pilgrimage, all the land of Canaan for an eternal inheritance, and I shall be God to them.” 8And God said to Abraham, “You keep my covenant, you and your seed after You, for their generations. 9This is my covenant to observe between me and you and between your seed after you, that you shall circumcise every male. 10And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you. 11And a son of eight days shall be circumcised among you, every male for your generations, born in the house, and bought with money from any son of a foreigner that was not from your seed. 12To circumcise, let the one born in your house and bought with your silver be circumcised, and my covenant will be in your flesh for an eternal covenant. 13And the uncircumcised male whose flesh of his foreskin will not be circumcised, that soul will be destroyed from his people; he has withdrawn from my covenant.” 14And God said to Abraham, “You shall not call the name of Sarai your wife, Sarai, because Sara is her name. 15And I shall bless her, and also I shall give to you a son from her, and I shall bless him and he shall be for the nations, and Kings of the nations shall be from him.” 16And Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, “To a son of a hundred years shall a son be born, or shall Sara, a daughter of ninety years, bear?” 17And Abraham said to God, “Oh that Ishmayl may live before you!” 18And God said to Abraham, “Truly Sara your wife shall give birth to a son for you, and you shall call his name Isaaq, and I shall establish my covenant with him for an eternal covenant and with his seed after him. 19And I have heard you about Ishmayl; behold I have blessed him and I shall increase him and I shall make him abound very greatly. He shall beget twelve Princes and I shall give him a great people. 20And I shall establish my covenant with Isaaq, for Sara will give birth for you at this time next year.” 21And when He had finished speaking with Him, God was lifted up from Abraham. 22And Abraham took Ishmayl, his son, and every child in his house and every one purchased by his money, every male among the men in the house of Abraham, and he circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the same day, just as God spoke with Him. 23And Abraham was a son of ninety and nine years when he circumcised the flesh of his foreskin. 24And Ishmayl his son was a son of thirteen years when he circumcised the flesh of his foreskin. 25In this day Abraham circumcised Ishmayl his son. 26And all the men in his house, born in his house and purchased with his money, and also he circumcised with him some sons of foreigners. 27And LORD JEHOVAH was revealed unto him among the oaks of Mamrey, and he sat in the door of the tent when the day was hot; The Peshitta Holy Bible Translated Translated by Glenn David Bauscher Glenn David Bauscher Lulu Publishing Copyright © 2018 Lulu Publishing 3rd edition Copyright © 2019 |
