Stalls.—‘Urāwôth (Syriac, ‘ûrâwôthô). (Comp. ûryôth, 2Chronicles 9:25; and ‘ăwērôth, “cotes,” a word only found here.)
All manner of beasts.—Every kind of cattle.
Cotes for flocks.—Heb., and flocks for folds. The words appear to have been transposed by some copyist. (Comp. LXX., καὶ μάνδρας εἰς τὰ ποίμνια, “and folds for the flocks.” So Vulg., “et caulas pecorum.” Syriac omits.)Micah 3:12 is by some referred to the earlier part of the reign of Hezekiah; but there is nothing to show that it was not delivered about this time.
27-29. he had exceeding much riches and honour—(compare 2Ki 20:13; Isa 39:2). A great portion of his personal wealth, like that of David and Uzziah, consisted in immense possessions of agricultural and pastoral produce. Besides, he had accumulated large treasures in gold, silver, and precious things, which he had taken as spoils from the Philistines, and which he had received as presents from neighboring states, among which he was held in great honor as a king under the special protection of Heaven. Much of his great wealth he expended in improving his capital, erecting forts, and promoting the internal benefit of his kingdom.1 Chronicles 27:25.

EXEGETICAL (ORIGINAL LANGUAGES)28. cotes for flocks] A.V. here follows LXX. Vulg. and R.V. (following the Massoretic text) flocks in folds. The “cotes” or “folds” were enclosures with high stone walls as a defence against robbers and wild beasts. The text is probably faulty; Pesh. omits the clause.Verse 28. - Cotes for flocks should be tendered, conversely, flocks to the stalls, i.e. stalls full of flocks. Psalm 31:4; Isaiah 49:10; Isaiah 51:18); and consequently here, protect, defend. There is therefore no need of the conjecture להם ויּנח להם erut, which Berth. holds to be the original reading, without considering that, though מסּביב ויּנח is a current phrase with the chronicler (cf. 2 Chronicles 14:6; 2 Chronicles 15:15; 2 Chronicles 20:30; 1 Chronicles 22:18), the supposition that these words became וינהלם מס by an orthographical error is not at all probable.
