Sirach 16:11
Good News Translation
Even if there had been only one stubborn person, it would have been a miracle if he had escaped punishment. The Lord is merciful, but he can also become angry. He can be overwhelming in his forgiveness or in his anger.

Even if there were only one stiff-necked person, it would be a wonder if he remained unpunished. For mercy and wrath are with the Lord; he is mighty to forgive—but he also pours out wrath.

Even if only one person refused to obey the Lord, I would be surprised if he did not punish that one. The Lord loves to show mercy and to use his mighty power to forgive his people, but when his anger overflows against sinners,
