Good News Translation
Bagoas went in and clapped his hands in front of the sleeping quarters of the tent, thinking that Holofernes was in bed with Judith.

New Revised Standard Version
So Bagoas went in and knocked at the entry of the tent, for he supposed that he was sleeping with Judith.

So Bagoas went inside and shook the curtain that separated Holofernes' bedroom from the rest of the tent. Bagoas waited, because he thought Judith was still with Holofernes.
