Be assured that the wicked will not go unpunished,

God’s justice cannot be evaded by power, wealth, alliances, or the apparent success of evil. The Law given through Moses established that sin brings guilt and judgment, and Israel’s history confirmed that God held both individuals and nations accountable for rebellion. The prophets repeatedly warned Judah, Israel, and surrounding peoples that violence, idolatry, oppression, and covenant unfaithfulness would bring judgment. Human courts may fail, but the righteous Judge sees every work and will repay evil in His appointed time.

but the offspring of the righteous will escape.

God often extends His preserving mercy through faithful households, as seen in Noah’s family, Abraham’s covenant line, and the deliverance of the godly remnant in Israel. Such blessing does not mean that children inherit saving faith apart from personal trust in God; each person remains accountable before Him. Yet the godly life of parents brings their children under the influence of God’s truth, discipline, prayer, and covenant instruction. Ultimately, deliverance from final judgment is found in Jesus Christ, whose righteousness secures salvation for all who believe in Him.
