Clarke's Commentary on the BibleTook the bones of Saul - The reader will recollect that the men of Jabesh-gilead burned the bodies of Saul and his sons, and buried the remaining bones under a tree at Jabesh. Joshua 17:11 Within Issachar and Asher, Manasseh also had Beth Shan, Ibleam and the people of Dor, Endor, Taanach and Megiddo, together with their surrounding settlements (the third in the list is Naphoth).
1 Samuel 31:3 The fighting grew fierce around Saul, and when the archers overtook him, they wounded him critically.
