Clarke's Commentary on the BibleThe people did eat them with the blood - They were faint through hunger, and did not take time to bleed the cattle on which they fed. This was another bad effect of Saul's rash adjuration. Treasury of Scripture Knowledge flew 1 Samuel 15:19 Why then did you not obey the voice of the LORD, but did fly on the spoil, and did evil in the sight of the LORD? The people having abstained from food the whole of the day, and being now faint through hunger and fatigue, they flew upon the cattle, and not taking time to bleed them properly, they eagerly devoured the flesh with the blood, directly contrary to the law-- another bad effect of Saul's rash adjuration.
